I did a scary thing. Last year I spun lots of yarn that I wove into a piece of fabric. A diamond twill with white and dark brown threads. I found the contrast between the threads too harsh and wibbly wobbly on the eyes, so I dyed it with woad. Love how it turned out! As many have already seen I am busy with the wood lathe at the moment. I bought a wood lathe because I needed bobbins, spindles and much more (textile)stuff. I am thinking about making more than I need so I can sell stuff as well and enjoy turning stuff I do not need. (This hobby is fun but expensive 🥲) The best thing about making your own bobbins is making one end compatible with the drill. Easy and fast winding of bobbins. And it looks so good! I love it when my book collection grows. The 6 ‘patterns of fashion’ books from Janet Arnold and the school of historical dress were on my wish list for so long, but the postal costs and export fees were holding me back. So when I had a work trip to London, I just had to get them there.
